The Greek agricultural sector is characterized by issues such as high production costs, low productivity and low competitiveness of agricultural products due to their low added value.
«ΕRΤ REPORT», a broadcast of the Greek state TV channel, presents these issues, the solutions already applied in the agricultural sector as well as the perspectives for the future, through the point of view of different stakeholders of the sector, including producers and agricultural cooperatives, agricultural advisors, researchers, companies and bodies like the Greek Geotechnical Chamber and the Agricultural University of Athens.
The broadcast highlights the importance of innovation and modern technologies in the restructuring of the Greek agricultural sector, with the Greek producer being the ultimate beneficiary. In this context, NEUROPUBLIC’s President Dr. Fotis Chatzipapadopoulos refers to smart farming as an holistic approach for the optimization of production as well as the benefits of its adoption for both the producer and the environment. At the same time, Yiannis and Evi Prodromou from Yanni’s Olive Grove – one of the first to adopt the gaiasense smart farming system – describe the way in which they have benefitted from this innovative approach.
By now, the gaiasense system is available in 12 different areas and another 12 are under planning for 2018, as shown in the corresponding map.
