NEUROPUBLIC and GAIA EPICHEIREIN participated in the 2nd meeting of the Digital Agriculture Platform of the European Think Tank Farm Europe. The meeting was held at the headquarters of Bonifiche Ferraresi, one of Italy’s most important agricultural businesses.
The subject of the meeting was to present the progress made by the Platform’s members regarding the implementation of their national planning as well as the development of ideas and proposals to the relevant E.C. bodies on the digitization of agriculture, especially with regards to the negotiations on the Common Agricultural Policy after 2020.
Yves Madre, Farm Europe’s President and Founder, opened the Platform’s debates by presenting its work so far and the goals for the coming months.
“We have to make an effort to ensure that this important tool for achieving economic and environmental performance will be accessible to all European farmers, regardless of the sector they work in, their geographical location or their size.”
On the side of GAIA EPICHEREIN and NEUROPUBLIC, NEUROPUBLIC’s President Fotis Chatzipapadopoulos presented the philosophy, the results so far and the forthcoming objectives of the gaiasense smart farming system. GAIA EPICHEREIN’s CEO Giannis Mavroudis and Head of Brussels Office Elli Tsiforou, along with NEUROPUBLIC’s Anna Vatsanidou, were among the participants.
During the meeting, Farm Europe executives announced the Platform’s intention to conduct a study aiming to record, collect, organize and quantify the economic and environmental benefits that the members of the Platform have gained so far through the digitization of agriculture. These results will be presented later this year in the form of performance indicators; this will be a valuable tool for highlighting the benefits of digital farming at European level and for strengthening the position of digital agriculture in the new Common Agricultural Policy.
About the Digital Agriculture Platform of Farm Europe
The Digital Agriculture Platform of Farm Europe was founded in 2018 actively supported by GAIA EPICHEIREIN and NEUROPUBLIC. It aims at highlighting the benefits of the digital transformation of agriculture, so that it becomes a pan-European priority, and also supported by appropriate political and financial tools.
The platform is a meeting point between European bodies of the productive sector (such as agricultural cooperatives and entities representing farmers at national and European level, such as GAIA EPICHEIREIN) and the digital sector (technological bodies, including NEUROPUBLIC) which are already implementing digitization in practice and have set the cooperation for the digital transformation of European agriculture as their common goal.
