In the framework of the collaboration between gaiasense and Thrakika Cotton Ginning Mills, the participating cotton producers had the opportunity to attend a meeting, during which the results from the second year of the gaiasense smart farming services’ implementation in their fields were presented.
The meeting took place on Monday, February 4th at the premises of Thrakika Cotton Ginning Mills, with the participation of representatives from NEUROPUBLIC, the hosts, agricultural advisors and cotton producers who participate in the smart farming program at Rodopi. The discussions covered topics on the irrigation, fertilization and crop protection of cotton.
During the event, the need for recording large amounts of high precision data was highlighted – not only automatically but also manually by the agricultural advisors – as this will enable the provision of high precision agricultural advice, which will consequently lead to reduction of production costs, improved yields and quality of cotton quality and at the same time reduced environmental footprint of the production.
The meeting concluded with a discussion between the participants, during which the producers expressed their satisfaction about the results, which was reflected on their intend to participate with even larger areas of their fields over the next cultivation period.
These results will also be presented, among others, in an event organized by Agrotiki Kainotomia on Friday February 15 at the Chris & Eve Hotel of Komotini.
