TOBACCO – Tobacco Institute of Prilep

The Tobacco Institute of Prilep is part of the St. Kliment Ohridski University in Bitola. It is the second state university located mainly in Bitola, with faculties in Prilep, Ohrid, Velles, Kitsevo and Skopje. It was founded on 25 April 1979, but the name St. Kliment Ohridski was given at the end of 1994. The number of enrolled students exceeds 15,000.

NEUROPUBLIC has been cooperating with the Institute since 2023, with the aim of shifting to digital crop management. It is responsible for the installation of special equipment, the analysis of all primary data and the adaptation of smart farming models in the fields of fertilization, irrigation and the timely treatment of a serious fungal disease affecting tobacco (peronospora) and two insect pests (green worm and tobacco thrips).

The use of the gaiasense smart farming system promotes the adoption of pro-environmental practices of effcient input management, resulting in a reduction of production costs and the environmental footprint of the crop.
